You will complete a Level 6 Biomedical Scientist Apprenticeship Degree Apprenticeship and obtain a BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science at the University of Westminster in London. The degree takes place over 4 years, as a part time student, where you will be attending university one day a week during term time on day release.

How you’ll be taught
Teaching methods focus on active student learning through lectures, seminars, workshops, problem-based and blended learning. This includes:
- Scheduled hours: examples include lectures, seminars, practical classes, and workshops.
- Placement: placement hours normally include opportunities to expand upon what has been taught and work within a live laboratory environment.
- Independent study: non-scheduled time in which students are expected to study independently. This may include preparation for scheduled sessions, follow-up work, wider reading or practice, completion of assessment tasks, or revision.
How you'll be assessed
Assessments typically fall into these broad categories:
- Practical: examples include presentations, videos, podcasts, lab work, and creating posters.
- Written exams: end of semester exams.
- Coursework: examples include essays, reports, in-class tests, portfolios and dissertation.
- IBMS Registration Portfolio: compilation of evidence demonstrating professional practice.
- Competency: assessment of professional practice leading to independent working.
